Kinnykoose

Kinnykoose is the alias of Manchester born artist Kieran Sproston who, having spent their teenage years writing for and performing in guitar based indie band The Rocket, crystalises their experience into a stripped back solo project of self-designed synth pads, delicate acoustics and an 808 kick.

Kinnykoose creates tracks that draw from personal experience of mental health issues and working class life in North West England; whilst often exploring uncomfortable themes, Kieran enjoys finding the humour in a topic with an aim to alleviate the tension and bring catharsis around heavy subject matter.

Stylistically, Kinnykoose’s sound draws from the reverberated soundscapes of The Cure coupled with the British hip-hop pioneers of 808 Ink. Dark tones of Spooky Black/Corbin can be noted alongside an aspiration to the lyrical behemoths of Arctic Monkeys.
